A familiar morning ritual and traditional Korean beverage.
"Over the coming years boricha became an unspoken ritual in Angela’s morning routine. The first person to reach the office would boil a large kettle of water, and as the teachers arrived, they would pour the water over a tea bag and allow it to steep. The comfort she found in her daily tea reflected the familiar ritual she found in her new life. The unfamiliar had become familiar and the foreign land had become home."

Step 1
Roast barley
Preheat a wok or skillet over low heat. Add barley and stir around until browns (it takes about 10 to 12 minutes).
Step 2
Brew tea
Boil the water in a kettle. Remove from heat then add roasted barley tea bag (1.5 tsp barley per 1 cup water). Brew for about 10 minutes. Remove tea bag, squeezing to get the last drop of essence. Enjoy tea or refrigerate until needed!
