GROWING COMMUNITY, CROSSING BORDERS WITH MAIZE

Sandí Amezcua Rocha, Rain Metteba, Aaron Warren

Our team of Diné, Santa Clara Pueblo, and P’urhépecha folks is brewing a multimedia story about intergenerational farming and corn relations in our respective homelands. Recently, our team traveled to P’urhépecha territory in Michoacan Mexico to experience the traditions and passions around corn and agriculture.

This experience is only part of our story to document maize's relations with Indigenous people in Mexico and the Southwestern US. Our goal is to center the experiences, traditions, recipes, and stories Indigenous people from these places hold with maize and so much more.
